Come for the apocalypse, stay for the Fallout

Amazon Prime Video put the call out for creative marketing pitches to boost awareness for their upcoming series, based on the critically acclaimed video game franchise, Fallout.

We pitched the concept of a lore-rich primer to the Fallout universe, one that summarises the pre-war madness that led to the bombs dropping. It would borrow footage from the games, but the goal was to present a brief alternate history lesson irrespective of the fact that it was based on a video game franchise as we wanted to appeal to film and TV enthusiasts as well.

Amazon were game and so production began.

The video, which I wrote the script for, was published on the IGN owned website, YouTube and social media channels. The version that we ran on platforms that favour the vertical format, namely Instagram and TikTok, was a truncated iteration aimed to condense the contents of the video into a more digestible form for those who are in a rush—definitely not because their attention span is rapidly atrophying.

To complement our promotional push across social, we included high-impact display on the IGN homepage, as well as our secret weapon of our ‘content block’ (MREC pictured on the left), prominently displaying Amazon’s collateral as well as our video.

This wasn’t our first content partnership with Amazon Prime Video, and it won’t be our last either. With Fallout turning into a hit for the streaming service and with a second season well on its way, we anticipate many more collaborations to come.
